M(a/e)rry May

My parents, older brother, aunt and cousin were married in May. Here in Metro Manila, it is a great time to marry since flowers are in bloom and during the early part of the month, you can still enjoy sunny weather (June is mostly rainy). This weekend, my parents and older brother (and sis-in-law, of course) celebrated their wedding anniversaries (May 3 and 4, respectively). An uncle had an early birthday celebration (May 6) as well.

As usual, we had lots of food and fun/funny conversations. Since my mom loves to cook, she was in high spirits as she watched her grandchildren devour every bit of pancit canton, lechon kawali, chicken pineapple and drank to their heart's content the cold and sweet gulaman drink. The waknatoy (Marikeños' version of menudo) brought by my uncle and the Red Ribbon mocha cake gift from my other brother were also early favorites.

Karlo, my favorite nephew, is now a teenager and our conversations have now shifted to girls and prom dates. My pretty nieces are growing up so fast too and new addition to the family is highly anticipated. Two of my cousins are expecting their first-born in a few months. Whewww!!! I can't thank the universe enough for the kind of support, love and occasional spats that my family (and extended family) enjoy all these years.

Even Magnolia looks forward to more parties such as the latest one we had. Am sure she enjoyed the lechon kawali. hahahaha

1-11-11

Am not fond of number 1. My favorite number actually is 5. So anyway, I made a wish at 1:11 pm on 1-11-11 and of course am hoping it comes true! Anyway, it's my brother's birthday today so we're having a party. That means there's delish food and there's an opportunity to dress up today.

I guess it's a lucky day after all.

June Vibe

It must be a good thing to start the month by meeting with your true friends. Just finished a chat with a high school and college friend and they're both requesting for a get together. So I need to organize one again or two or three. Too many requests. :)

I just noticed that things are getting better. Probably because there are not too many people in the house anymore. I am back to the old set up, that is, it's just me, Magnolia and Ching Ching.

Suddenly the sun is shining brighter and prospects are getting clearer. Whatever those prospects are am not sharing them here.

Btw, my spare computer is up and running again. Actually, this is the first blog in a long while (since December last year I think) that am using my desktop. My laptop which I bought last December (now you know the reason the desktop is a spare) is now my main computer (I call it Najja, meaning second born). I use it for work, for my copywriting assignments and web design drafts.

And I need storage badly. My 160gb (80 for my laptop and 80 for my external hdd) is almost full! With 80gb additional, I can get by till my birthday (it's a good excuse to get a 500gb or better 1 tb hdd). Gosh, I need a new keyboard too and lcd monitor and vacuum cleaner. Hahahaha.

Girl Talk

I had coffee with my girl friends last night at Biksa Coffee in Marikina. These are my friends from way back. We spent high school together in MIST (now Marikina Science High School) and we've been friends eversince.

These are my cherished friends and am glad we're are all still friends till now. I wish I can share more of why we had to meet last night. As the conversation progresses, I can't help but compare it with some scenes from Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives. Hahaha. We have all grown, pursued different paths but remained friends.

Reina, Helene and Eve are all married while Julie and I are happily single. We missed Riz, who needs to attend to some family matter and Myls, who can't get out of the convent to see us (she's a nun).

It's just great to have such good friends. Thanks girl friends for more than 20 years of friendship.

SEO/Marketing Group Dinner Get Together

We've been planning for a get together since last year. Finally, after one ym conference session and sponsorship of the very generous Barney, the SEO/Marketing get together was set.

It was a toss between Giligan's and North Park in Makati. The former was full so we settled for the latter. Good food, fun conversation and nice coffee were the highlights of the night. In attendance were Joel Bauca, Rai Samson, Riz Sanchez, Joni Ang, Romela de Leon, Karen Labustro, Sarj Malanyaon and yours truly.
