Universally Speaking

I received an email about the earth being compared to other planets, the sun and showing how tiny it is compared to other entities in the universe. I think this comparison only wants us-- human, thinking beings-- to realize that we are nothing but a speck of dust when you look at the big picture.

It's easy to indulge in narcissism, to stroke our already big and bloated egos, think of ourselves as high and mighty. It's easy to convince ourselves that we can make things happen because we are smart and have the power to make choices.

But then, looking back, there were very few episodes in our lives that we can confidently brag about going our way. Down to the last detail...

Shit happens. Something is bound to go wrong even if you planned for it so perfectly.

In the midst of helplessness, I realized that the universe facilitates what must be done. Yes, heartache included. Don't ever think that you are special, because you are not. Don't put such emphasis on yourself because we are all equally entitled to occupy the same space here on earth.

What we should strive for, to make the most of our stay here, is to do what's right. Live, love, do good. Make choices. Learn from your mistakes. Happiness cannot be stored so get some everyday.
